Last year, about this time, Patrick and I were suppose to be in Europe. We had made all kinds of plans and were very excited, but then we moved to PA. Lucky for us, we didn't buy the plane tickets! Moving caused an uproar in our lives. Looking back, I don't mind it so much because we've learned things that we never would have if we stayed in one place. I love the adventures my husband and I embark on. Sure, we're usually not the ones planning them, but what would life be without random, scary or maybe even a little crazy adventures?
A few nights ago, while we were eating dinner, Patrick and I had a conversation that went something like this:
P- Do you know what name is on your passport?
A- (Looking a little confused at such a random question) Ummm. Ashley Royce, why?
P- Oh, I was thinking that's what it was.
A- Why?
P- Because the lady I talked to about our tickets to Europe asked if our passports were up to date.
A- WHAT did you say?!!!
P- (laughing) I said, I needed to know so we could go to Europe!
A- (HUGE smile on my face) Are you serious? I've always wanted to go to Europe. Are you really serious? Is this a joke? I love Europe.
So, it wasn't a joke and Patrick TOTALLY surprised me! He made all kinds of reservations and even got our plane tickets! We've (obviously) been wanting to go for quite some time and we were indeed hoping to go this coming Spring, but our plans were contingent on several things. But we're going! We leave March 18 and come home April 1. (funny side note: The only thing I was concerned about was that I wouldn't be in the US when my friend Jeannie had her baby...Patrick assured me it would be okay.)
Life seems to short, to unknown to just sit around and think about things that you could do. Sure, something were meant for the imagination, but other things are just too exciting, too off the wall, too beyond imagination to pass up. So here's to another adventure for the McBride's. Moving, traveling, struggling, dealing, healing, laughing...I do love adventures and I love them even more when they are with Patrick.

Congratulations! I'd love to go to Europe. We should still get together sometime. It seems you might be busier than I am, even though I have a job. I don't mind driving a bit, if you'd like to meet closer to your home.
Have a great weekend! (and I enjoy reading your blog..in so many ways you are an inspiration to me)

LUCKY GIRL! You're gonna have so much fun. I highly recommend that everybody go at least once. Well, but then once you go, you just want to go back, so I actually recommend that you go as often as possible! :) In fact, I should make sure Casey reads this! :)
i think a good idea would be for me to go over to Europe a couple months before baby comes and then just have the baby there. yeah, that's definitely what i'm going to do...
Such fun news, Ash! I'm thrilled for you! :)
