Upstairs tour...

I'm so scattered in this video. It was a long day. Finally, though, you can see the upstairs of our house! :) If you missed the downstairs tour, click here. I shall warn you thought, much has changed.

Also, please excuse my random insert of the word "batteries". What I was trying to tell you was that the camera battery died a long time ago and we couldn't find the charger. Ohhhhh boy. Next video starring me, I'll make sure my hair looks good and I slept a little more.

Enjoy :)

Family fun day...

Our little man hasn't been sleeping very well, but that's nothing new. His naps are short and certainly not enough. To make the days more enjoyable, we find fun afternoon things to do. When it's just B and I we go to the park or walk around downtown. Sometimes we go to Sonic during happy hour for an iced tea, sometimes Starbucks for an iced latte.

On the weekends, though, it's family time! Patrick's been pretty busy this past week with work and everything else seemed to get in our way. Weeks like this always make me shake my head and pout. Never fear, though. My handsome, hardworking hubby suggested we had some family fun this afternoon after said short nap time.

We thought about going to Norman or Stillwater, just to explore. But it was already kind of late in the afternoon, so we opted to drive out Route 66 and get our kicks, if you will. It so beautiful on the Mother Road (which is what they call it). We headed east to Arcadia and we entertained ourselves for about an hour before we came back to Edmond for dinner.

We stopped by Othello's for half price pizza tonight. It's a small Italian restaurant downtown Edmond. Now, it's no Luigi's or Nap's, but we'll take what we can get. Plus, the pizza was pretty good! I'd say it turned out to be a fantastic family fun day :)

Pops. We really enjoy this place. There are 500 different sodas (in bottles) to choose from. Plus, a rockin' chicken melt!
Stopped at the Big Red Barn. This is a non functioning outhouse. B was clearly interested :)
P & B

There she is. The Big Red Round Barn. It was quite large.
He didn't want to hold my hand. SO sad.
Cutie.
Historical. It's the historic Route 66, afterall.
Finally, P & B went to Bass Pro Shop yesterday for "man time". He came back with this little hat and looked all grown up. Also, he enjoyed eating beef jerky. I didn't ask too many questions, it was man time stuff.

Exploring..

Benjamin and I have been exploring this week. Instead of whining and sulking about not having many friends and things to do, I decided we would do something and learn about our new city.

Yesterday we went to Lake Hefner. It's so gorgeous there and even though it's hot, the breeze from the lake is a welcomed guest as you walk around! I asked Season and Sophie if they wanted to met us there, since it's so close to their house. They did. Season and I walked and talked and pushed strollers and promised the littles that they could play at the playground when we were done.

With an open Friday and no lunch plans with daddy, we set out to find something new in Edmond today. I did have soemthing in mind and can't say it was completely new. I had seen this place while driving a month or so ago.

Off we went to North Edmond. Where deer and antelope play. Well, not really, but there is a lot more open land back there :) It's really quite gorgeous and it's not built up at all. I was hoping I would at least remember the road I had to turn on to find this mornings new adventure. I did. Yeah, me!

Our destination was The Old School Bagel Cafe. From what I can tell, there are a few locations. One in Tulsa, OK, one in Stillwater, OK and then the other two in the Edmond/OKC area. It was a really cool joint. I wanted a bagel terribly, but went with the cinnamon roll instead. I don't know why. I should have got the bagel. The cinnamon roll was really excellent, but a little too much sugar for a morning snack.

Anyways, I can't wait to go back. They had a great bagel selection, plus bagel sandwiches for lunchtime. I'm hoping I can convince Patrick to go in the morning for breakfast. Then when we get company next week, maybe we can take them there for lunch! Needless to say, I'm hooked on this place. As an added bonus K-LOVE was playing in the background. Perfect!

After we left OSBC we drove by a few garage sales and found a few new parks. We stopped at one and decided, pretty quickly, that it wasn't our favorite park and definitely made for bigger kiddos. Not ideal for us, so we'll keep searching!

I have many more places in mind to try. Cupcakes, bakeries, coffee shops, parks and more! Stay tuned. This summer heat seems like it's going to stick around for a while and we need to get out of the house.

Man, these bananas are good!

The Reids came to visit us. I'm sure you know we love these friends. Being with them is so refreshing, uplifting, encouraging...it just makes sense. And even though there are 6 of them and just 3 of us, we work together so nicely. I loved my house being full and loud. I loved waking up and watching little heads pop, one by one, around the corner. We miss them already. Yeah, it was a good visit.

We kept busy. Jeannie's momma motto is this: it's better to have a bad day out than a bad day at home. I'm all for that! We went to the zoo, chick-fil-a (ummm...twice), the pool, Pops, the park (twice, again on this one). And we were able to relax, too. We stayed up way too late talking and laughing and sharing and watching Brian Regan. Jeannie and I were able to get out together and so were Patrick and Aaron. Good, good visit I tell ya!

Kiddos at the zoo...Hope read to B and they really had fun playing together. In fact, Benjamin loved being around all four of the Reid children. He was in his prime!

We made cow costumes to get free Chick-fil-a...oh yes we did.We went to Pops, on Route 66, for a dinner out. We were attacked by mosquitoes, but we made it and had a lot of fun.
Greg - As vibrant as his hair, people....just like a firecracker! Plus, I love me some freckles!
D - tender hearted boy. future geologist? What a helper and so, so good with Benjamin!
Jonny - sheesh. charmer, talker, entertainer, noise maker.
Hope - sweet, sweet girl. She's girly, but watch out because she has three older brothers and can wrestle with the best of them!
Um, I love this. This picture, it's real life folks and it don't get any better than that!
The guys..."If the whole planet is of them...well, that explains these apes..." (hee hee hee hee...Brian Regan...)
And the gals...
We miss you, Reids! Move to Edmond, Oklahoma already - or there will be MANSLAUGHTER!!!!! (Um, that's reference to Brian Regan...in case you did not know that...)

I love weekends like this...

Our weekend was far from boring and I couldn't have been more pleased with that :) Saturday morning, Amy, Luke, B and I met at a blackberry farm and picked berries for a while. It was muggy and warm, but so much fun. My baby loooooves blackberries. He stood by a bush and picked berries off to eat. Too bad he wasn't more helpful in putting the berries into our baskets!

After the berry picking, we headed over to the farmers market to get some produce for the week. Then once Benjamin was down for his nap, I went to a great local coffee shop for some much needed alone time! It was so nice to drink my latte, read my bible and be still. I sometimes forget how necessary that time is to be refreshed so I can be the best wife and momma God has called me to be!

If that was enough fun in a weekend, the Johnson's invited us to go to a baseball game with them today! OKC has a triple A baseball team, the Redhawk's. I love going to baseball games! We had great club seats and ate dinner at the ball park (of course!). A nice guy, who had a suite near our seats, came over and asked if we wanted to hang out in his suite. He told us that he remembers what it was like to bring toddlers to games and wanted us to enjoy ourselves. He was so kind! We spent the rest of the game in an air conditioned room and the boys ran around! Perfect! I love when random kindnesses come our way :)

Whew! I'm tired just thinking about all of this. I hope you all had a fun weekend, too!

B chowing on a blackberry.
So serious.
Luke much preferred the sand to the berries.
Going after a berry I was holding in an effort to get him to look at the camera. He instead did some sort of dance and lunged at me.
Oh, what's that you say, his mouth is brown too? Well, that's the dirt he somehow consumed along with the berries (and didn't mind one bit).
First time actually eating pasta with sauce! He finally likes spaghetti!!!
Playing in the water table he just got. Check out Piper eying this thing. After B went to bed, Piper would come up to it and drink the water.
At the game, in our original seats.
Hanging out in the sweet suite (haha).
Cute boy!
McBride's and Johnson's
Amy and I waiting for the boys to finish running on the field. I'm soooo grateful for this gal! I'm totally enjoying getting to know her better (we originally met in TX when our husbands worked together) and spend time with her. Bonus: the more we talk, the more I find out we have in common! What a blessing she is to me and I'm so glad they live in Edmond.
Patrick and Benjamin "running" the bases. Benjamin had to stop at every base and walk over it. It was so funny to watch!
And as a final note - the first thing Troy said as the guys came back was this: "Well I guess we'll have a piece of the field with us for 12 more hours. Yep. Luke ate some of the field." What a good way to end our evening :)

Friendly visit...

My friend Meghan (and Dylan, of course) came to visit last weekend! It was so great to see her and watch the boys play again. We stayed very busy and Patrick was so sweet to let us escape a few times to do some girl things ($30 mani/pedi, yes please)!

Here are some pictures to recap:

The boys - the first ever picture of both of them looking at me!

Walking around the OKC National Memorial. They were champs. It was muggy.

At the zoo. Climbing the gorilla...
Meghan and I showing you all that we were much more excited than the boys to be at the zoo. Especially after getting a close up of a Tiger and hearing him roar several times. Please don't tell anyone that I'm certain it was my very unhappy and hot, whiny child that annoyed the tiger, causing him to roar endlessly.
At the pool. Dylan is, of course, posing. B, well, he would rather be in the pool. Clearly he hasn't got the fake smile down just yet.
Splash park!!!
We walked around Hefner Lake for a while. A very nice man took this picture for us and also scared Meg enough to make her scream and jump when he asked to take it. Funny.

It was great having my friend in OKC for six days!!! Can't wait to see them again!

F.a.m.o.u.s

Our first non-moving weekend in Edmond has come and gone. Sheesh, how did that happen?! Since our weeks are a little longer the weekends seem oh so precious. Now, it's over.

On Friday evening, we headed over to Matt and Season's to crash their home group cookout :) It was fun meeting new people and getting to know them. Benjamin had fun running around and playing with new friends. Also, we found out that he does not like baked beans. Good to know.

Saturday was the opening day of the Edmond Farmers Market. It was wonderful! We got some lettuce, tomatoes, asparagus and a few basil plants. PLUS, there was a local bakery selling things. Patrick and I shared a sticky bun, of course! After we got back I made a huge salad (for another BBQ) and left to go for a quick run. It was in my plans to run 8 miles, but the heavy and cold rain convinced me to do otherwise. After a 3.2 mile run, I called it quits and am hopeful that I will at least cross the half marathon finish line alive. We'll see.

The rest of our afternoon was beautiful chaos! We headed over to Troy and Amy's for some serious hang out time. The Dolezal's came over from Tulsa (thanks!) just to hang out with all of us! The kiddos all had fun together. Mainly, Henry being ultra cool; Luke following Henry around; Benjamin hitting anything/anyone he could; Rosie being cute and crawling to very important objects.

We consumed way too much guacamole (wait, is this possible!?) and magic bars before dinner. This lead to much needed girl time. Amy, Erin and I hopped in the car and rushed over to the house for a grand tour (plus a few minor distractions) and lots of uninterrupted conversation!

We stopped by a store on the way home that was having an "open house". We get raffle tickets for the door prize drawing and I WIN! Hello, and welcome to Oklahoma! It was pretty much a bunch of things I think they were trying to get rid of, but pretty awesome nonetheless. We had fun walking around the store and looking at random objects and commenting on each others styles. Hello Kitty. Big jewelry. Tu-tu's. Framed objects. Butterfly lamps. It was truly a memory making event.

(Can you see the huge cooper purse?! Also, the sign says "Please God, if you won't make me thin can you make my friends fat?" Um, I won't be using this if anyone wants it.)

We headed back to the Johnson's to consume an insane amount of ribs that Troy had been preparing all day. We were so full after dinner and only one thing could make it better: www.peopleofwalmart.com. Wow. really? We looked at this for about 20 minutes while our children ran wild in the living room. Then we all parted ways.

(Please. Look at the faces we are making. This website was making us all gasp (and laugh) and poor Darin threw up in his mouth at least three times, but you can't see him.)

Today was pretty low key. We went to a church that we enjoyed and liked it a lot better than the one we tried last weekend. I got to go to the grocery store all by myself. AND We put out all of our left over boxes for the garbage men to take, never to be seen by me again!!! Farewell, sea of brown! You will not be missed.

And so, there is a friendly weekend re-cap. Brought to you by me and with a special shout out to Erin, who is now f.a.m.o.u.s!

Oh a little lady picture for your viewing pleasure! Amy, Ashley and Erin.
Annnnnd our little boys (Rosie did not make it into the picture, thus making it a boy picture) B, Henry and Luke. Can you tell who is the oldest and coolest? Yes, he's the one looking at the camera :) Also, please note B's new kicks curiosity of The Dolezal's. Thanks for your hand-me-downs! We love them!

Homeowners!

We currently own (sort of) two homes. Our Indiana home, which needs to sell ASAP and our Edmond home, which is really not ours yet. Either way, papers are signed and we are on our way to living in Edmond, OK. They sellers came back with a counter offer, but it was still lower than we thought they would come back at. We took it and are very excited about this house!

I think things are starting to sink in a little. Some great praises: The sellers are willing to close on April 8th, which means that we can all move down together. We have friends that live here. There is a SuperTarget and a water park just minutes from our house. OKC & Edmond have races and things to do in the community. There is a Ann Taylor LOFT here. We have several churches to look at. There is Blue Bell ice cream here. I know there are a ton more, it's just that I'm too tired to go on.

We had a busy day. We walked through the house again. We drove to downtown OKC, which is mainly some restaurants and a bunch of offices. We had a picnic at a park. We toured the Chesapeake campus (they have an AMAZING fitness facility. So excited about that.). We had dinner with friends. We came back to the hotel and packed up. Now I'm blogging. :) Whew.

I'm ready to be back home. I'm ready for things to be a little normal for awhile. I'm ready to start this process. Mainly, I want to sleep in my own bed.

Here are pictures, to show you some of our day!

Lake Hefner. OKC's water supply. A great place to row and sail, but no swimming. It was so gorgeous outside today!
At the park.
Riding the space shuttle...
Slide!!!
Swing!! (B loves to be outside, can you tell!?)
Close up of the outside of the house.
Fireplace.
Better shot of the kitchen.
Cute matching guys. Both making faces. Normal.
Oh man. What a long few days it has been! I'm glad that this trip has gone well and we found a house. I'm so glad we got to explore and find our way around. I'm glad we got to figure things out a little. More than anything, I'm so glad that the Lord continually revealed to us that we are suppose to be here - no matter how crazy it all seems. This is where He has called us and we are confident in that. That, my friends, is a cozy and peaceful place to be.
