So, you wanna know what we did?!

Well, Patrick and I met Kent at the airport at six am on Friday morning. We checked luggage and got our boarding passes. Final Destination: Kansas City, MO. What? We were clueless to what we would be doing in Kansas City.

We had a great time laughing, talking and sleeping on the plane rides (we had a layover in Chicago). When we got to KC, we were picked up by a funny old guy named Carl (pronounced: Caaaa, like a crow would say...). He drove us in his fancy town car to the Hilton President Hotel in downtown KC. We couldn't check in right away, so the three of us headed out to explore downtown and find some food. We ended up at this awesome Caribbean restaurant called The Mango Room. It was really cool and I ate brussel sprouts for the first time and they were really good!

Sooooo, we are sitting there chatting when Kent tosses a card at us. Patrick opens it pretty quickly and this is what was inside:

Yes, that's right. Three tickets to see Garth Brooks LIVE. The concert started at 8pm Friday night!!!

Ok, some background: Garth Brooks is Patrick's ALL TIME favorite artist. He knows every song and has wanted to go to a concert forever. However, Garth Brooks stopped touring six years ago to stay home with his family. Fast forward to this year, Wal-mart asks Garth to do nine concerts, in a row, in Kansas City, MO. He agrees, Kent accidentally found tickets, booked them and here we all are. Whew!

I'm pretty sure Patrick was on the verge of tears as he looked at the tickets. It was so awesome to see his face light up! This is, seriously, one of Patrick's life time desires! I'm so glad that I could be apart of it. I grew up listening to Garth Brooks and really love his music, too.

We walked around downtown KC for about two hours. We passed a neat outdoor market setting up for the evening sales, we got gelato at a little shop, we perused through all the little stores we stumbled upon and finally, decided to go back to the hotel to nap before the concert! Our hotel was gorgeous! (I love hotels!) And the bed was incredible. We all napped for a bit, then met up to grab dinner before the concert.

Eating gelato...I got tiramsu gelato and it was incredible...

We walked to a Mexican restaurant, recommended to us, that wasn't too far away. The food was great and it was fun to talk over dinner and get excited together for the concert. After dinner, we headed over to the Sprint Center for the concert. We got there a little early, so we walked around. This thing was a huge deal! I wish I would have brought some cowgirl gear so I could have blended in a little more :)

We had awesome seats! Trisha Yearwood opened the concert and played for about 30 mins. After she was done, we waited around for quite awhile for Garth to come out. It was worth the wait! He sang and talked non-stop for two and a half hours! It was, by far, the most incredible concert I've ever been to! We sang along with every song. We laughed. I cried. It was fantastic!

Trisha Yearwood singing her little heart out...

Garth making quite an entrance...

For his encore, he played songs of artist who had influenced him growing up. To my delight, he played songs by James Taylor, Bob Seger, George Straight and Don McLean. Wonderful! I cannot describe in words how awesome this concert was! The look on Patrick's face was worth everything! He was so satisfied, so content. It was so wonderful!

We got back to our hotel late and slept in. We had breakfast together and walked around downtown a little more. And that, was our trip. We got in late last night (my luggage made it home about eight hours behind us) and we are still talking about the Garth Brooks concert. It was such an awesome time. Kent out did himself on this one! Thank you just doesn't seem to be enough....

Oh, there's a lot more pictures to post!
