So many things...

Ok, since one of my 2008 "goals" was to get more organized, I must have convinced myself that "organized" meant re-doing our bathrooms and moving everything else is the house around. I'm sure Patrick must be scared to come home because everyday I find a new project.

Let me start here: The upstairs bathroom. It's pretty big and use to be three shades of green with a frog border. It was like that when we got here and I saw no need to start on it right away. Well, boredom struck and it was the best option for change. Here are some pictures of the transformation...

I had to tear off the border, then clean the walls, then start painting. This was quite a chore!

After I had the bottom painted and the top trimmed. To save money, I just used colors we already had from painting the bedrooms.
Almost done! The last thing I did was the trim...which I really should have done first.
Tada! I'm not really sure I like the "red" in here. It matches our shower curtain, but came out a little more mauve than I would have liked. The lighting makes a huge difference (the Guest bedroom looks a lot more brick reddish)... We'll see.

Moving to the downstairs bathroom. I don't have any before pictures to show you, but I'm still thinking of ways to make this newly blue room and pleasant place to sit...

New blue, called Pale Flowers. I really like the color and it helps this small bathroom feels less bland, for sure. I bought the cute pic at Michaels and also bought new towel and toilet paper holders, for a fresher look.

Now I just need something for the wall by the sink, just for calming sake. This blue can be pretty overwhelming if you don't tame it!

Lastly, and most importantly, my biggest struggle. To door, or not to door... That is the question. I saw a picture of Martha Stewart's kitchen and she has cupboard's without doors! Sure, she's Martha and can do anything and it looks good. Sooooooo, I thought since I'm Ashley I would try it and hope it looks good :) I wanted to open up our little kitchen (the kitchen is by far one of the toughest rooms to organize and keep practical - I'm in it all the time, so I need to to be functional over cute), but this question arises: Does open in this situation also mean cluttered? I want open, but not to sacrifice the organization (hello, purpose in doing all of this!). Be honest and let me know what you think. Patrick hates it, but it's growing on me....

Waaaaaaay before. This is a picture from when we first looked at the house. Notice all the doors on the cupboards, please.
Couldn't find too many kitchen pictures. Not a great one, but serves it's purpose.
New Kitchen without cupboards. Maybe I should put one back? All? I just don't know.

A little closer look. What do you think?

I suppose I should busy myself with things outside of the house for a while, or we may not have much of a house left!

I love all the changes you have made!! I like the red in the upstairs bathroom. If you can keep the cupboards neat like they are now, then I like it. Not for me though, too much stuff. :) Love you!

Well done, you! Your blue is similar to my blue in our bathroom. I love it in there. Regarding the cabinets...We have a couple of cabinets that don't have doors...I really like it. It forces me to keep things tidy and simple and it's easy access. But...I think I like yours with the cabinets on because they have sides and a back, rather than shelves, where you would see the wall behind it.

On another note, thanks for being such a good friend, Ash. I wish you were here so I could give you a hug. We miss you!

Hmm. I might have to go with Patrick on this one. Martha is... well, Martha. You're right; she can do whatever she wants. Plus, she's not actually living in her kitchen, so it can always look perfect for photos (her cabinets are never cluttered, her dishes always match--etc). But worth a shot, nonetheless! :)

(And, the best part--my opinion doesn't really matter, so if you like it, keep it!)

You're very brave, Ash! I would vote for cabinets, but that's just me. I can't stand any clutter and to me it would feel like that. But, if you like it, keep it! :)
