I have a 12 day old baby. Sheesh. Can you believe our little man is almost two weeks old? As I was feeding Benjamin last night at 2am, I was thinking how much our lives have changed and how the little things (like sleeping in) are not really an option right now. There is a helpless, precious little baby that needs our full attention.
The last 12 days have been the hardest, most difficult, most discouraging days I've ever had - and I've been through some tough things. But, you know, they have also been the most joyful, rewarding, and wonderful days I think I can recall. This little being has entered our world and turned it upside down and I just don't think I would change a single thing. Okay, maybe I would add more sleep to the whole deal.
I've dropped to my knees in tears more than once (a day) in desperation for God's help, comfort and patience. I'm sure this is just the beginning. There is nothing like having a newborn baby at your mercy to draw you to the feet of God. Certainly, there is no other place I would rather, could be right now. My God's feet are the safest, most secure place for me to go.
When I get upset or frustrated, I remember that this little miracle won't be this tiny for very long. Tomorrow he'll be 13 days old and I do not want to miss day 12 and all that it brings, even if it's more tears. When he won't fall asleep, I remember that he's on his own schedule, not mine. Each day is new and I know, if nothing else, Patrick gets home at 5pm. Until then, I know I can make it. The next day isn't something I even think about. One day at a time, one day at a time.
Here are some pictures of our little man. I just don't think I'll be able to do too many posts with adding a few new pictures :)
