Oh boy. Today has been one of those days. It doesn't help that last night was one of those nights. Although, the other night Benjamin slept for five hours straight. Joy! The smallest things make all of the difference.
We put Benjamin in his crib to sleep now. I think he hated the bassinet. He sleeps so much better in his crib and, therefore, so do we. I do believe that our little man is going through a growth spurt, eating every hour and a half or so. He's right on time with this spurt (according to "the books") and it's slightly taxing on my sanity. I do know it's best for him (and my milk supply) and will happily comply to his terribly loud screams for food. :)
On Friday night, Patrick and I went on a date! Our friend Liz watched Benjamin for the hour (and some) we were gone. It was hard to leave him, but it was so nice to be with Patrick. We went to a sushi place and then got ice cream. Perfect! And today, my friends, my dear friend Al is coming over for an hour to watch Benjamin because I'M GETTING A MASSAGE! Woohoo! I will certainly enjoy being pampered. I'm so grateful for willing and available friends.
Finally, Benjamin is now three weeks old. He has grown so much and is starting to need 0-3 month clothes for the length (not so much for the width, though). Patrick measured him last night and he was 21 1/2 inches long! Oh my soul. How does something grow an inch and a half in three weeks?!? Needless to say, he is healthy and happy (most of the time). He has colic, we think, and that makes for some long and hard evenings. But we're getting though and growing and learning as a team. I just don't know what I would do without Patrick. What an incredible man!
And pictures for those interested. I definitely think our little guy looks more like Patrick everyday. I did the look-a-like meter again and it said Benjamin looked equally like Patrick and I.
Sound asleep...
Content in momma's arms...
Snuggling
Looking quite concerned and displeased with me
Crying and looooong... but still a skinny little thing, just like his daddy.
P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETHANY! We love you!!!

Ashley,
Thanks for sharing this experience with all of us. It can't be easy--I'm just so blessed everytime I see the new pictures of Benjamin. He's so precious. Be encouraged!

What an incredibly precious little man you have. Like Nina said, do treasure every moment because Benjamin will grow up so fast. I can't believe Ava is 7+ months old already and I just want her to stop growing. And if by chance you notice him having a lot of gas, you might want to try taking dairy out of your diet. I'm not a doctor (of course!) and I don't know everything, but Ava was pretty fussy starting at 3 weeks and the doctors said it was colic, but when I took dairy out of my diet, she became a different baby! (Just an idea, and I know you're probably getting more unwanted advice, so please ignore this if its annoying to you.)
