Shorts

In high school, I wore really short shorts. I mean...pockets-hanging-out-of-cut-offs...short. I was okay with that. When I went to Tennessee, a very dear friend mentioned that my shorts were a little too short to hang out with guy friends...if you know what I mean. :) So, I stopped wearing my daisy dukes and traded my favorite cut-offs for full length jeans and I've had a hard time going back since then.

In Texas, it was hot. I mean really, really hot. I wore skirts a lot, but some days you just needed to wear shorts. So I had two pairs of shorts. I didn't think about it too much and got along just fine.

In Pennsylvania it's not as hot as Texas and I usually wear jeans (or workout clothes) and I'm okay with that. I enjoy wearing skirts and will jump at the chance to wear something cute! However, all of my "something cute" outfits don't fit too well. (Note:Please don't tell me that it must be a nice problem to have. Just let me be frustrated that losing weight means having to buy new clothes and it gets expensive....with all love and kindness...thanks)

Since I needed new clothes, I thought having a pair of shorts would be fun. I didn't think it would be a problem to find shorts that I liked. However, shorts in today's society are not very conservative. Sure, there are Bermuda shorts. I have a pair of those and they are fine. I just wanted a pair of cute khaki shorts.

Geez! I went to seven stores before going into Old Navy. I found a pair of shorts that looked somewhat longer than the fifty other pairs I had tried on. I even bought a size bigger so that they would hang a little lower! I made the girl in the dressing room assure me that the shorts I had on were not inappropriate and were indeed wearable in everyday moderately conservative life.

This is what I ended up with:

Maybe I should go back to my no shorts days?

Ash you crack me up! Love the shorts--The one pair I have are from J. Crew that cost way too much, but they're long-ish, fit really well, and I don't feel like I'll get mistaken for being a 13-year-old (please, no offense to any 13-year-olds out there reading).
