It's true...my birthday is in three days! I love my birthday and always have. However, the last few years have been weird or hard or just not as exciting. Perhaps it's because Patrick doesn't celebrate birthdays like I do. Maybe it's because for the last four birthdays we've been getting ready for our wedding, traveling, or moving. Either way, my birthday becomes less and less of a big deal when other life situations happen.
I'm fighting off my desire to be selfish about my birthday. I'm praying for contentment. How silly that this is even an issue! But it is, and I'm grateful that I have a God who knows my heart, knows my birthday and knows how I need to grow. Maybe this year I won't have a birthday week (that makes it sound pretty bad, huh?), or maybe everyone I know forgets - oh well. Maybe this year, I'll learn that life isn't all about me and my birthday. I hope this year, if nothing else, I learn to be grateful for another year and for the years past; for all I've seen and all I've learned. Now that's something to celebrate!
But until then - Did I mention that I would have declared my birthday a national holiday years ago if I had the power to do so? I mean, seriously, I share a birthday with Mickey Mouse. How could you not make that a national holiday? :)

YOU are a child from my heart. :) I know how much you LOVE your birthday, I Love Your Birthday!! It's okay to still be excited, I love the days leading up to my birthday. And John doesn't really get the birthday thing either. :(
I can't wait to spend your birthday together. See you Saturday!!!!
I sent you something today that probably will come late, but still, it makes me smile thinking of you opening it...it was fun to pick out. enjoy.
I still don't understand why I have to work, clean, cook, or do anything I don't want to on my birthday! It IS a national holiday to me! I use the excuse all day long... "but it's my birthday!" (not in the whiny voice, but in the cute voice with a pouty bottom lip and puppy dog eyes.)
I totally agree. Nov. 18 is a very special day. I'll celebrate in your honor!
