On my own

What's a girl to do on a weekend without a husband? Patrick is at a bachelor party in Morgantown for the weekend and I'm in Indiana trying to figure what to do with all this free time! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my husband and miss him when he goes away, but I really enjoy weekends apart.

My friend Allyson came over last night to hang out. We ordered a pizza for dinner and made a huge salad to go with it. We watched "Margot at the Wedding" with Nichole Kidman and Jack Black. It was so weird and we sat on the front porch, sipping hot tea, trying to process the insanity, complexity and humor of the movie.

Today I'm going to Greensburg with Al to look at wedding stuff (and whatever else we decide to do in a bigger town!). My morning was free though, so I ate a scone and had some hot tea. I went for a run and mowed the lawn. I ran to the grocery store and vacuumed the floors upstairs. It was nice to be active and get some things done around here.

With some yummy recipes tucked inside my head, another movie to watch and a cool, silent house, I looked forward to coming home this evening. I guess I didn't need to do anything extravagant to celebrate my alone time, I just needed to have a day of complete freedom. Although I enjoy this freedom, I don't like being alone the whole time. Al has been so kind to hang out with me this weekend.

Well, off to start our day trip. I'm excited for Patrick to come home so I can tell him all about my weekend and listen to stories from his. I love the reunion because it's always so sweet and brings us both to a renewed, refreshed place in our marriage!
