Oh my soul...

We finally got our internet hooked up late last night. It has been a struggle indeed not having any modern day technology at my service, but I survived. I have had so many blogging experiences over the last 2 weeks. I am not sure how I'm going to stuff them all in this blog :)

We are settled (for the most part) into our new home. It is much smaller than we were told and it is without a washer and dryer hookup. That makes for fun trips to the laundry mat. I'm doing my best to look forward to those trips. We had to rent a storage unit to store all of our stuff that does not fit in our townhouse. The items that did not fit include (but are not limited too): Our washer and dryer, our refridgerator, our head board and base board for our bed, our grill, everything that was in the garage, anything that was in a box that had no place to go, several boxes full of books.
I seriously dislike boxes. Looking at them, touching them, smelling them. I would hope to never see a large box again, but I know that is unrealistic. I'll get over it and when we move again (in a year), I will again remember why I don't like boxes.

Needless to say, things are much harder than I had anticipated and I'm working desperately to make lemonade out of the lemons we're swimming in. I have offically titled these days, "Character adjustment days". I'm trying to maintain a postive perspective through all of this and I desire to be encouraging to Patrick (because he LOVES it here).

And now for a story about my first 10 days in Indiana, PA:
I met Patrick for lunch on Monday. Without any weather forcast available to me, I just got dressed and hoped for the best. I thought I looked rather cute and did layer, somewhat, before I slipped on my shoes. Mind you, my shoes were too cute to wear socks with them so I headed out the door with no socks, no coat and a very cute scarf wrapped around my neck...for added warmth. Things weren't so bad until I got into the car and realized it was cold enough that I should have warmed it up before heading out for the day. So, my toes are freezing and my body is shaking. (not a bad thing because I was burning calories just by being cold!)

We went downtown for lunch. Now, downtown has only street parking (that I'm aware of) and I had to run a few errands while I was there, so it made sense to park and walk around. Not so. I had no coat and no socks. The wind was blowing and it was...22 degrees. I was so cold. I would have ran if my body was not frozen. This is the day that I realized that I was, indeed, out of Texas. I so enjoyed wearing flip flops at any point during the year in Sugar Land. It was a hard induction into the "just moved to PA" club, but I endured and made it through my errands. Yesterday, I learned from my mistake and wore several layers, including my winter jacket, gloves, a scarf and socks. Wouldn't you know that I got hot walking around? Go figure.

I'll blog more later.

Wow, sister. Climate change is rough for sure. I will not take my short sleeves and flip-flops for granted! Off to email you...

I feel ya on the "character adjustments"...I'm right there with ya. I know you're having a hard time. Does it help to know that there are people down in TX who miss you and are thinking about you? You're welcome back anytime!!!

Stay warm!! Miss you!

I'm getting nostalgic reading your posts about Indiana. It has such a fond place in my heart. Have you gone to Lord of Life church? I have many friends still there: Allen's, Botsford's, Herman's, Kim's, and on and on...

We're in the midst of character adjustments as well. Stuff is happening FAST as we are in the middle of moving to the new church. Things are not done on a perfect schedule and we're making a ton of last minute cancellations and rearranging. Not fun for those who live for order! I remember how fun it isn't to live out of boxes. Remember our first night in my current house (before heading to the beach?!) it was chaos!!!

Have you discovered Cafe Curio?
