Y.M.C.A

"It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A.It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A. They have everything for young men to enjoy. You can hang out with all the boys. It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A.It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A.You can get yourself clean. You can have a good meal. You can do whatever you feel."

Oh, the memories of dancing on a chair at my 16th birthday waving my arms in the air as YMCA by the Village People blasted through the room. Today, I am not dancing on a chair, but I am getting ready to go to the local Y and workout. Patrick and I decided that we needed something better than the mini-gym at our apartment complex. So, we got a family membership to the YMCA.

Yesterday was our first workout there (aside from the one time we went when we were visiting.) and it wasn't too bad. They only had five treadmills and it seems that everyone wants to run or walk, rather than bike or...elliptical. I thought I would ride the bike since I have to prepare myself for that anyways. I was hopeful about riding and programed the bike for an 8 mile goal. WHAT was I thinking?! It took me 14 minutes to do 3.06 miles. I will definitely need more bike training before the triathlon.

Tonight, there is a hip hop class from 5-6. I am excited because I'm going to be brave and go to this class. I am not sure what the class will be like. Will I get a good workout? Will I look like a fool? I don't know, but I'm willing to find out for some variety in my mundane work out schedule. If this doesn't go well, I would like to try a few other classes on Thursday nights. And hey, "they have everything for young men (or women) to enjoy"...so why wouldn't I find something I liked?
