Sweet dreams

This morning, waking up meant leaving a very intense dream that I was thoroughly enjoying. In hopes of restoring my dream, I tightly closed my eyes. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I resumed right where I left off. But I couldn't stay asleep.

I got out of bed, went to the kitchen and found Carol sitting at the table. I proceeded to tell her my dream, very detailed, and explained that I couldn't stop thinking about it. The more I talked about it, the more I want to know. It was like I was writing a book based on my dream. Perfect!

So, we sat at the table for at least an hour and I continued in the telling of my dream/story. I told her of the part that I dreamed, then quickly added details to enhance the story. I couldn't stop. Carol would toss ideas at me and I would add them in appropriately. I've never had such a wonderfully productive dream!

We left the table to get ready for the day, but even now, hours later, I cannot stop thinking about and developing the characters in my story. I cannot stop contemplating how to connect the two main characters. And I just cannot stop thinking about how it should end. In my mind, I nearly have a complete novel just sitting happily in a mess of words. What will their names be? What will the city be called? What do they look like? Why is this so consuming?

I bet you you want to know what my dream was about, don't you? I just need to suck it up and write it all down. This may be my chance to write a book. And that is, indeed, a goal of mine. Even if I'm the only one who will enjoy it!
