Cru Reunion

Once upon a time in my life, I was very involved with a ministry at WVU called Campus Crusade for Christ. Perhaps you've heard of it. Maybe you were involved in it too? I started going in the fall of 2001 and left in the spring of 2004. It was an incredible experience for me and I learned so much through Cru.

I met some of my best friends there. I learned how to share the gospel there. I learned how to lead a bible study there. I grew up there. It was through Cru that I was able to spend a summer (10 weeks) in Santa Cruz, CA. It was through Cru that I was able to go overseas for 6 weeks to Maracaibo, VZ. And in VZ I found my heart for the nations, for missions. I also grew up tremendously while I was there. It was an unexplainable transformation that only the Lord could do and only the Lord deserves credit.

Needless to say, these were some of my best years and some of my favorite memories. Last weekend, WVU Campus Crusade celebrated 35 years of ministry at WVU. This was a huge deal! Alumni from all over were coming back to Morgantown, WV just for this event. Friday night we had a reunion for the classes of 2000-2007. It was incredible to see some of my old friends and catch up on their lives.

On Saturday afternoon, we all had a picnic together and then on Saturday night all alumni were invited to a banquet at the stadium. It was so incredible to be surrounded by people whose lives were changed just like mine. It was exciting to see how Crusade has grown and all it's done. Thirty five years of alumni packed into a room, listening to stories about sinners, changed by grace and exalting God to the fullest. Amen to that!

It was a wonderful weekend. My heart was so full of joy, of love, remembering where I came from just a few years ago. There is something to be said for a group of people that not only shared life together, but really sought to help others find life in Jesus together. We cried together, laughed together, prayed together and sang together. We sought the Lord together, we held each other accountable and we walked roads not many people walk together. I look forward to the eternal gathering that we all get to enjoy together.
